Praise Jesus!

 

What a blessed March.  We thank our Precious Lord Jesus for everything He has done.

                        For He has done great things!

                        For He has done great things!

 

SUNDAY SERVICES

     As we continue our Sunday services, they become better and better.  We continue to adjust and adapt to our situation and continually “Bath in Prayer”.

     Each week things seem a little different and our team is doing a great job adjusting as needed.  Shawn and Jean switch back and forth leading the praise and worship.  With Pastor Mark gone for three weeks, Lolita has been sharing from the pulpit.  This last Sunday service was very powerful with over half of those attending coming forward for prayer.

     The second Sunday of March 2 people were baptized in the sea after our service.  One was a young man in his late twenties and to other a young teenage girl.  Construction is complete on our first dormitory and it is being used on Sundays for children’s Sunday school classes.  Last Sunday we had 25 children in attendance.

 

REFUGE BUILDING PROGRAM

     Praise Jesus!  As mentioned above, the first dormitory is finish and the second dormitory about half complete.  We should be through before the end of April.

     Praise Jesus!  He has blessed us by speaking to a brother in Florida to provide us with a well pump, bladder tank and everything to put our water system in shape.  Praise Jesus this will save well over a thousand dollars. It will take a couple of months to receive everything and installed.

     We are appraising the cost of materials to put the roof and guardrails   on the upper room so it will be safe to use for Prayer meetings and Praise & Worship.   Also the material and estimate to build a workshop and staff quarters.   Praise Jesus He is so faithful!

 

REFUGE HOUSE MINISTRIES

     Praise Jesus, we had two Pastors, their wives and mission team from South Korea visit this month.  They were on a mission trip about 30 Kilometers from here and when they heard about us the Holy Spirit pressed them to visit.  Even with an interpreter for translation we had a language barrier. But it didn’t matter, we just felt like dear old friends and rejoicing in the Lord together.  Even though in the natural we could not understand, in the Spirit we were united with Jesus! 

     We also have been visited by many area Pastors who are so thankful for a place to come and worship Jesus.  We are already getting request from churches to schedule events even though construction is not finished!  It’s just going to get better and better.

 

YOUTH GROUP

     Praise Jesus!  We had our first Youth Gathering this month with many different churches represented.  Around 70 youth had a day filled with teaching and encouraging activities along with some fun time playing beach volley ball and swimming.  It was a great day as the youth praised and sought the Lord Jesus! 

     Our Youth Group is now learning some dramas to present in the near future for evangelistic outreaches.  They have already presented their ‘Dance to the Lord” in two different Barangy.

 

MINISTRY TO SUNDAY WORSHIP MEMBERS

     Praise Jesus, we distributed all the vegetable seeds along with some fertilizer and Sevin dust with each family getting a share.  They all have planted a garden and we pray for good results.   In addition we have purchased material to build a fishing net for the members to use with our boat.  Pray for lots of fish.

 

SCHOOL SUPPLY DISTRIBUTION

     We will distribute school supply the first of June to the children who could not afford the supplies they needed to go to school.

SOMBRERO ISLAND

     Please help us in prayer for this area.  Praise Jesus they are giving us a lot to have full time ministry there.  What we desire is Help, Laborers!  Please Pray!

 

TRANSPORTATION FUND

     Praise Jesus, already we have been blessed with $1,000.00 for a new truck!  We continue to ask for prayer on this great need.

 

PERSONEL NOTE

     Again we here at the Refuge, just stand humbly before our precious Lord, thanking Him for you!  I am not sure you really know the great treasures our Father is giving you here in Palawan.  Words can not express everything our Lord is doing here!  All I can say is Praise Jesus, for opening your hearts to be partakers in the harvest and to receive the treasures being stored to your account in heaven.

     It is through your great compassion, love and passion that the hundreds upon hundreds of children, men and women are receiving spiritual and physical food.  They are hearing of our Father’s plan of reconciliation through His son Jesus blood.  I praise our Father in heaven thanking Him everyday for everything He has done through you!

PRAISE JESUS!

What an exciting and blessed month it has been.  So much is happening here, it is hard to keep you up- to- date.

REFUGE HOUSE           

Praise Jesus we now have permanent electricity at our Refuge property.  What a blessing!

So many inspections and permits needed to get permanent electricity.   I am sure this is one area of construction that would be simpler in the U.S.  I had no idea the permits needed: City, fire department, Barangy (comparable to U.S. County Government), and electric company.  Lolita did a magnificent job obtaining all the requirements for each permit.  God Bless Her!
Our first dormitory is coming along very well.  With the exception of the outside back wall, plastering of walls is complete.  The door jams are in place.   We are preparing for installation of doors, windows, toilet, sink, shower, tile, electrical wiring and finish up with painting.  Permanent ceiling and bathroom tile will be installed later.

With the rapid growth of our Sunday worship we will be using the first dormitory for Sunday school classrooms as well when it is completed.  Please join with us in prayer that our Lord will provide the $1,800 needed for completion of this first dormitory.  

WATER WELL          

Praise Jesus!  Now that our Lord has blessed us with electricity we are praying for our water well.  We are praying for an electric pump and bladder tank along with all pvc  pipe, fittings and every thing to have running water at our Refuge House.  Please be in the prayer of agreement for these provisions.

SCHOOL SUPPLIES          

We will distribute school supplies for the coming school year at the end of May or first of June.  If you are sending a box of supplies please address to Lolita Hemingway, Refuge House, Tinagong Dagat, Narra Palawan 5303. For assistance in shipping give Cathy Helton a call, (352) 472-2418.  She is overseeing our state side shipping of supplies.          

We also desire prayer for the provisions to buy the 1st through 6th grade student’s  notebooks they use here on Palawan.  Please designate contributions as “school supplies” if that is desired.

DISCIPLESHIP & FEEDING PROGRAMS          

Sombrero Island has asked us to come and start full time ministry on the Island.  Praise Jesus this is great news.  We desire prayer for laborers.  The harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few.

CHRISSY & PASTOR OSORIO          

Chrissy has finished her schooling for this year and has decided she wants to go home to see her family.  I want to thank our sponsors for helping her finish her schooling this year.  What a Blessing!          

Pastor Osorio will also be returning home this month.  He has been a real blessing and has completed his training.          

With both of them leaving we all have extra duties so please pray for helpers to join us.

REFUGE HOUSE MINISTRIES          

Praise Jesus!  I am just amazed at what has happened in less than two months!  The weekly children’s ministry at the Refuge House is averaging 50 to 70 kids every week with more wanting to come from the adjoining Barangy.          

The youth ministry has grown to 19 regular and an additional 15 from the adjoining Barangy  coming as often as possible.   They meet Wednesday and Friday evening and Saturday afternoon following the children’s bible study.  They are eager to learn about the ways of our Lord Jesus!  They are also learning drama, dance and soon using puppets as tools for evangelizing out in the surrounding areas.          

Our Sunday worship service has been averaging 40 to 50 people.  We had just over 100 on our 4th Sunday as visitors from another Barangy came.  Again we ask prayer for laborers, including a great desire for a Sunday school teacher for the children on Sundays.          

We have been blessed with chairs and tables for the refuge.  We have already purchased some and ordered the rest.  Hopefully we will receive them before you receive this letter.          

Praise Jesus!  With all this growth in ministry we have outgrown our little truck.  We ask everyone to pray that our Lord will provide a larger truck.  We are making 2-3 trips on Sunday to pick up everyone without transportation who live several kilometers away.  We also desire the opportunity to take the youth and equipment on outreaches.          

We ask all of you to pray for a new dual cab truck with extra long bed.  By adding seats to the bed we can transport 25 to 30 people or equipment.  This is a huge prayer for us, but we know Our Father is able to provide.  The cost of this truck is around $25,000.  In the event our Lord speaks to you about this need please write “truck” on your check.  Also Mark has asked for prayer for a drum set and a few other things for the Praise and Worship team to use.

PERSONAL NOTE          

I am so humbled in awe and amazement at the faithfulness of our Father.  As I watch “Hinay Hinay Lang”( Little by Little), our Father making this refuge a Praise in the earth to HIM, I am constantly reminded of His Love, Grace, Mercy, Faithfulness to all of us!  He loves us so much!          

This past month pastors have come to see the refuge property, to meet us and to hear about the vision our Father gave approx. 15 years ago.    I am reminded by His word…. Though the vision tarries, wait expectantly for it.  It will surely come to pass!          

I am completely humbled by the truth of His word and His faithfulness to complete His word in you and me!

Praise Jesus!

 

          Wow, what a great and busy month.  We have been busy seeing fruit added to your account through many salvations here on Palawan.  Also busy seeing treasures stored in heaven for you through thousands of nutritious meals provided to the children and gifts of love and compassion wrapped up in pretty Christmas paper expressing the love of Jesus carried from your hearts.

       

What a pleasure we have here in seeing a child’s eyes grow wide in wonder, surprise and joy as they open a present of love from you. 

     We find our self in amazement seeing the transformation of faces filled with hardship into one filled with innocence and joy.      

        Our eyes shed tears just thinking we are able to be a vessel of our Precious Jesus’ love for these children by giving a gift or filling a hungry belly.  And if that is not enough, to then be allowed to share with them why people who they have never met give the gifts. 

        To share with these children how much our Father loves them that He touched the heart of strangers to be partakers of the abundant Harvest and Treasures in Heaven provided by our Heavenly Father. 

        What a blessed opportunity we have to use your gift as a focal point to share with the children the love of Jesus for them:  That He died for them and if they believe and trust in Him they will experience life everlasting.  Hallelujah, Praise Jesus!  He is worthy to be praised.

REFUGE MINISTRY
          Praise Jesus!  Pastor Osorio from the island of Cebu has come over to head up our ministry team.  He is training the young workers through classes and some good old fashioned on-the-job training.  Our ministry team has been doing a wonderful job and Pastor Osorio adds his special maturity and wisdom to the mix.
          The Saturday morning children ministry has 55 to 75 kids every Saturday.  With so many coming we are now dividing them into the 12 tribes of Israel and they will participate in the various activities as a tribe.  For the first seven weeks 25 of the kids have perfect attendance.
          We now have  10 to 12 youth coming to our newly started youth group.  Youth are ages thirteen to twenty.  They are now preparing to sing praise and dance to the Lord as well as developing a drama team to go on our outreaches in the future.  Three days a week the youth meet and practice after Pastor Ossorio shares the word with them.

 

SUNDAY SERVICES
Two weeks ago Pastor Osorio  started a Sunday service.  To date three adults, seven youth, and 18 children are attending.
Pastor Osorio has been a blessing for me as he has continued training Mark and the others.  We still have prayer meeting every day, so send any prayer requests.  Please be in prayer with us as we start full ministry here in a place where there is no church: Truly a pioneering work.

 

REFUGE HOUSE
           Due to Pastor Osorio being here I have been able to spend more time concentrating on building the Refuge, which is coming along little by little.
As I write this, our dormitory construction has temporarily stopped as we try to locate a source of fine sand needed in the plaster mix.   We are working on the supply of electricity to the main building and finishing up the small details of electrical work in the building.  It will be a day of praise when we are able to pack away the extension cords.  What a joy to see the vision from our Precious Lord taking physical form.

 

 DISCIPLESHIP AND FEEDING PROGRAMS
          All of the schools are doing fine and learning every week more about Jesus!  Again Pastor Osorio is overseeing this. We currently have feeding programs once or twice per week in five schools providing a nutritious meal and time in teaching the children about Jesus. In addition we have a feeding program in two tribal areas on a weekly basis as well as our Saturday morning bible study at the Refuge House. 

       We ask all of you to please pray with us for the provisions to continue and expand this wonderful opportunity to disciple and feed hungry children!  God Bless You!

 

CHRISSY- SPONSORSHIP FOR SCHOOLING
          Chrissy (Maricris)  is doing very well and has high praises from her teachers.  She wants to learn very much and is enthusiastic in doing her studies,  her chores and working in the ministry on weekends.  We hope and pray she will be the first of many we can help with schooling.  Please pray for additional sponsors for others that desire to continue their education.

 

PERSONAL NOTE
As mentioned before, we are a pioneering church in an area with no church.   We cherish, covet and desire your prayers.  We most certainly stand in need of the prayers of the righteous.  As we continue to build and complete dormitories our ministry will expand here.

Praise Jesus!                 

     Wow! It is 2012, a New Year, and closer to our precious Lord Jesus returning for us to be with HIM!   What a wonderful day that will be!

CHRISTMAS GIFTS     The children’s Christmas gifts have arrived.   Praise Jesus!  We will be giving gifts and sharing Jesus most of this month.  We will be sending video clips, by e-mail of the gift giving to show you a flavor of the wonderful ministry this offers to the children and their families.
    We praise Jesus and thank our Father in Heaven for the love and compassion of Jesus in you to give presents to these beautiful children who may have never had a gift.  It is such a blessing to see their eyes open with surprise and see the joy, smiles, excitement and thankfulness when they open their gift.  This is always a great time as we not only share Jesus with the kids but with their families as well.

KID’S BIBLE STUDY      Praise Jesus! So far we have had between 60 to 75 kids each week at our Kid’s Bible Study.  It is going really well even though we are a little limited on what we can do because of the construction under way at the refuge property.  We will be purchasing some much needed tables and chairs this month.  This will be a great blessing so the kids won’t have to sit on the floor to eat and participate in the other activities during our weekly bible study.     Our team is learning and improving each week.  As we learn, improve and be faithful in this we know that our Lord will enlarge our border.       Our Precious Jesus has already brought several youth to watch the kids bible study and we have involved them in helping each week.  They really enjoy helping and now are coming during the week to practice for the Saturday ministry.      I can see the start of a Youth Group.  So please pray!

REFUGE HOUSE      We have now transferred to the Refuge House.  We do not have running water or permanent electricity at this point, but we do have an extension cord running from a temporary power source. 

        We have several building projects currently going on at the property:

    1) We are needing toilet bowl, sink, shower fixtures, cabinets, etc in upstairs bathroom.  The cost of this with labor is approx. $500.

    2) We are putting a 30’ x 12’ roof on the porch with an expected cost of $650 for lumber, roofing, nails, sealer, cement for columns, and labor. 

    3)  Also this month we will be ready to put the 30’ x 16’ roofing on our first dormitory building and bathroom.  Lumber, roofing, nails, sealer, labor etc is roughly $800.     

       4) Later in the month we hope to start hooking up electricity and installing an electric water pump with pressure tank then running water lines. 

   5) By the end of the month we expect to have security bars for all windows.

    Please join with us in prayer that our precious Lord will secure the provisions for these projects.     Until we get the dormitories and rooms finished, some of the girls will sleep in the down stairs kitchen.  The boys will sleep in the bamboo bodega.  Lolita and I will sleep in the upstairs bedroom and Showney (Shawn) will sleep upstairs in the living area.      We praise our Father for His faithfulness as we continue to see His Vision for this refuge to become a Praise on the earth to Him.

SPONSORSHIP      Maricris (Chrissy) has been blessed with a sponsor for schooling.  She is attending school and doing very well

  We have other young people who would like to come and be a part of doing the Lord’s work here at the Refuge. 

      Some are from the Islands of Mindanao, Cebu and Bohol.  Most are living in extreme poverty but have found the answer to overcoming;  that being Jesus our Savior.

PERSONAL NOTE     We have no Internet access at the Refuge.  We have tried many different things but still no Internet.  Please be patient with me in answering e-mails.  We are praying for a solution to this great inconvenience.     My heart is overwhelmed with praises to our Father for you.  As I opened the boxes of gifts to the children I could not help but experience such a powerful feeling of your love and compassion that you have from our precious Lord Jesus! 

      As I took the gifts from the boxes I could see your face with such warm caring love, with such compassion and tenderness, with so much joy to help these beautiful sweet children here in Palawan. 

      Our Father will reward you well with many treasures in heaven and will be so pleased as hundreds of children will praise Jesus; thanking our Father for you  as I also praise Jesus and thank our Father for You!
